Casting and Splinting Skills Workshop (Workshop 1)

Learn the latest casting and splinting techniques through a full day of intensive hands-on instruction and application. Workshop will cover basic and intermediate casting & splinting, including upper and lower extremity (short arm, thumb spica, volar splint, thumb spica splint, sugar tong splint, short leg and long leg cylinder) and cast complications.

Advanced Casting (Workshop 2)

Hands-on interactive skills lab outlining the newest techniques in advanced casting. The “show one, do one” atmosphere will allow each participant to apply newly learned skills. Participants will:
• Learn advanced casting techniques & proper cast preparation & application of syntheti materials
• Learn & improve on existing techniques to increase comfort level of advanced applications
• Learn precautionary measures related to casting
• Learn follow-up patient monitoring & instructions
Participants will apply the following casts during the hands-on lab:
• Muenster Cast
• Total Contact Cast
• Short Leg with Toe Plate

CPR Certification (Workshop 3)

This session will offer the latest CPR training, including basics and specialized techniques. A combination of lecture, video, group discussion and hands-on training will be utilized by the instructor, who is certified through the National Safety Council. Participants will receive a certification card and certificate after the completion of the CPR exam given at the end of the program.
